Federal Restrictions on Certain UAS/Drones for Federally Funded Activities

Overview

Federal regulations restrict the purchase and use of certain unmanned aircraft systems UAS/drones manufactured or assembled by designated foreign entities for federally funded activities at Indiana University.

Under FAR clause 52.240-1 (and DoD Section 1260H restrictions), IU may not purchase or operate UAS/drones from certain prohibited manufacturers in support of federally funded contracts. Federal funds may not be used to acquire, operate, or obtain services using these restricted UAS/drones.
